Tere Bin Laden has been Ali Zafar‘s first step of the long stairway of success in the filming industry, but Ali has already taken another step by scoring a lead role in YRF’s forthcoming project by Aditya Chopra.

Under the direction of Ali Abbas Zafar, the romantic comedy will star Imran Khan and Katrina Kaif along with Ali Zafar and another lady opposite to Ali who has yet to be finalized. YRF’s spokesperson confirmed by saying

Ali Zafar’s Blog: Types of Rozay Daars

Categorized Under: Articles 4 Comments

By Ali Zafar

Type A ;

This type of Rozay dar has the following characteristics

1 ) He makes sure to stuff himself with parathas and lasees (may be food suppliments) during sehry to prevent hunger from putting him in any kind of pain or misery the next day which can accidently lead him to test himself or provide an opportunity to relook at his desires and change for better.

2 ) Since now he has kept the Roza, he would go around asking everyone if they have kept it or not. Hoping someone would say “no” in embarrassment and he will rise to the occasion as a better Muslim in his own eyes and give a monstrous, demeaning look to the non-rozay dar.

3 ) He waits for aftary to feast on pakoras and other unhealthy fried food but more than that…… his cigarette. {Read More…}

Once upon a time in Pakistan

By Ali Zafar

I have landed in Pakistan, a country surrounded by serenity, seduced by a sincere sense of security. People of various sects, religion and race walking hand in hand, ignorant of imparity, in a place once hard to maintain sanity. They say there was a time when poor bled in despair while the burjuva fed on vanity and others looted on the name of charity.

I am surprised to notice the rulers here, who live like ordinary servants of the state somewhere. They say once so well had they mastered the art of corruption, that they themselves would decide the result of an election. {Read More…}

Ali Zafar defends ‘Tere Bin’ at Karachi Press Conference

Categorized Under: Films, News, Videos One Comment

Give ‘Tere Bin Laden’ a chance, says Ali Zafar

At a press conference held in Karachi on Thursday evening, Ali Zafar said, “I directly appeal to the President and the Prime Minister to consider this issue and let the film be screened in Pakistan. If there is a security risk, by that standard we should stop going to mosques, or to schools or anything else. We cannot stop life. It is a 95-minute peace tape and a pro-Pakistan film, and this will generate business for our cinemas.” {Read More…}

Ali Zafar’s ‘Tere Bin Laden’ Business Picked Up Dramatically During Weekend (Box-Office Report)

Categorized Under: Films, News 10 Comments

Three Indian movies – Tere Bin Laden, Udaan and Lamhaa and two English movies – Inception and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice released on the same day i.e 16th July. But even after getting support from the leading faces of the Indian cinema (like Salman Khan, Karan Johar and Sonam Kapoor) and even after getting rave reviews, Tere Bin Laden starring Ali Zafar does an average opening at Box Office mostly because of Christopher Nolan (of Memento, Prestige & Batman Series fame)’s highly anticipated ‘Inception’ that stole the show, from East to West, from North to South. In fact, the film fetched a fantastic start from its first show onwards, eclipsing the Indian releases completely. Tere Bin Laden wasn’t expected to start with a bang at the International market, primarily because it stared a new face for them and also because Leonardo DiCaprio’s film ‘Inception’ was also releasing on the same day.

According to leading trade analyst of India, Tere Bin Laden started on a 15% to 20% to 25% note in the morning and noon shows, it picked up during the evening shows, since the word of mouth is extremely positive. {Read More…}

Ali Zafar wants to relocate to Mumbai

Categorized Under: News 13 Comments

Ali Zafar“Keep politics out of art and culture,” says Ali Zafar. “Things have to get better between the two countries,” Ali says optimistically. “The sooner the better. Because the present hostility is unbearable. We from the entertainment industry in Pakistan are hard hit by the suspicion between the two countries.”

Ali lives in Lahore, has a second home in Dubai and wants to relocate to Mumbai to further his career. He is honest enough to admit that there’s more scope for him to function in India than in Pakistan. Hey says, “I’ll be honest. There are more avenues and prospects here (India). So if the God above and the politicians down below permit, I’d love to move to Mumbai. An artiste knows no bounds and boundaries. My first home is Lahore. But I’d like to make Mumbai my second home.” “Actors are like vagabonds, so I will travel wherever work takes me. There are no plans as of now to shift to Mumbai.” {Read More…}

Tere Bin Laden: Starring Ali Zafar (Movie Review)

Categorized Under: Films, News, Reviews 13 Comments

A Million Dollar FAKE!

Tere Bin Laden, starring, Prince of Pop, Ali Zafar has garnered generally positive reviews all over the world. The film earned $20,000 on Thursday night in Dubai, and it has become a smash hit in Dubai and in Mumbai, India. So Muslims and Pakistanis abroad love it, and did not find anything offensive in it. It’s a comedy film and it caters to the general psyche of the society. Banning the screening of the film in Pakistan on grounds that extremists could use it as a pretext to launch attacks, made every Pakistani sad and also excited to look for the illegal pirated version of it over the internet. Luckily I found the version within the next 24 hours of the release of the film and thankfully it has been shot quite nicely by the unknown director (pirate) sitting inside the cinema. Throughout the film I never felt that its an anti-Pakistan film. “It’s ironical that Indians are supporting a Pakistani (actor and character), while elements of our local Establishment are apathetic at best and regressive at worst.”, says a renowned musician ‘Shahvar Ali Khan’. A former member of parliament, said the ban was political posturing by the government. “They did not ban the movie because of security concerns. Nonsense,” Mr Yousaf Salahuddin said. “It is an anti-American film that exposes the Americans” and their double-standards. He said the Pakistani government did not want to offend the Americans. I don’t see a point why the movie should be banned here as its a pro-Pakistani film and being a Pakistani I thoroughly enjoyed the film and would highly recommend people to watch this rare gem in theaters. The movie is a very subtle, humorous remark on the war on terror. I think we needed a movie like that. So here goes the first Pakistani review. {Read More…}

Previously on the order of Censor Board, the name ‘Laden’ was dropped from Tere Bin Laden in Pakistan as a precautionary measure and now considering the kind of tensions surrounding Pakistan, the release of the film in Pakistan has been banned.
