Noori is in the 3rd season of Coke Studio. They are also doing a duet project with Zeb and Haniya. Ali Hamza is getting married to a girl named Nafisa in March. Noori is also working on their 3rd studio album “Begum Gul Baqoli Sarfarosh”

A couple of months ago, I wrote a column in praise of certain Pakistani pop stars and bands, arguing that there are a fair number of songs that display political consciousness and a related sense of responsibility. I referred to such songs as Junoon’s ‘Talaash’, Shahzad Roy’s ‘Lagay Raho’ and ‘Kismet Apnay Haath Main’, Noori’s ‘Merey Log’ and Laal’s rendition of Habib Jalib’s ‘Main Nay Uss Say Yeh Kaha.’

I find now that that argument was all very well – as far as it went. YouTube is no longer just a medium where artists can share their content with the rest of the world. It is also a barometer of gauging public opinion. The latest example is Coke Studio. This season, YouTube is overloaded with Coke Studio content (despite an official website) and the two songs that have garnered enormous fame include Ali Zafar’s ‘Dastaan-e-Ishq‘ and Noori and Saieen Zahoor’s ‘Aik Alif‘. This is not to say that the rest of the singles were ordinary. Pretty much every tune was spectacular but some were more audibly stunning than others.
