Nouman JavaidThe film’s title is definitely inspired from Dulal Goha’s 1975 film “Pratiggya”, starring Dharmendra and Hema Malini. The song was sung by late Mohammad Rafi and shot on Dharmendra and Hema. Samir Karnik intends to record a remix version of the Mohammad Rafi hit, has introduced a new composing duo Nouman Javaid and Rahul Seth. Upon asking Nouman Javaid, he replied,

Samir Karnik, who is the director of the film he heard my songs and he approached me and asked me if I wanted to do the film as music director as he was looking for a new fresh sound. He loved my past songs “Dard-e-tanhai” and “Mein chala” plus he loved the voice texture I have so he made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. {Read More…}

Aag Alive 2009 Concert Review

Note: This review focuses primarily on performances and how they looked over television. It doesn’t cover the the venue mishaps and other events.

The show started with an Aag Alive lounge. The lounge started off with the Aagmentary which basically took a look at the history of Pakistani pop music from Ahmed Ruhshdi to Junoon, it was actually quite interesting for any Pakistani pop music fan. After the Aagmentary segment the VJs showed glimpses of the actual concert. They also showed the Behind the Scenes of Aag Alive, all of this was put together really well but after a while the Aag Alive lounge got extremely boring especially the clips in between the actual show…no one really cares about these actors etc. and their interviews, the people watching on TV or online are only interested in the PERFORMANCES not these lame interviews! They were HORRIBLE! Especially the last one with the old man Ali Muhammad Mir who passed very rude comments about Atif Aslam, Annie, and singers in general (he was suppose to be imitating Musharaf apparently)…

Now lets get to the actual performances. {Read More…}

Koolmuzone Music Blockbusters of 2009: Top 5 Upcoming Artists

1. Bachana (Bilal Khan)

With almost 65, 000 plus views and 196 ratings of the song on You Tube. The LUMS guy deserves first ranking with his hit single. He writes, composes and sings his songs himself, with lot of melancholy in his songs. The fresh talent is not bound to red tape limitations; Bilal proves it by hitting on You Tube, with his deep and mesmerizing song.

2. Chue Chue ( Zain ul Abideen)

Simple words like awesome song, awesome vocals, awesome video, awesome music and awesome lyrics define new talent Zain as one of the top five debuts.

3. Mein Chala (Nouman Javaid)

With a song for Bollywood Film Jashan, Nouman delivers his moaning and powerful vocals with very soft guitar touches in the song. The deep grief and sad touch goes well with the lyrics.

4. Maan Lo (Zohaib kazi featuring Zara Madani & Naad e Ali)

After a long time, it’s a brilliant attempt to some soulful music.

5. Tanha (Qayaas)

With the video of song “Tanha”, Qayaas has really done a good job. The song has more instrumentation with a dark touch to it. With higher tempos added afterwards, Tanha turns out to be a heavy rocking hit with strong riffs and drums. Umeed is a comparatively lighter track.

Original:

COO, Fire Records, Dr. Akbar Yezdani, has finally announced release dates for albums of Mauj (Now in Technicolor), Kaavish (Gunkali) and Nida Arab.

All the albums will come out with gap of one week between each other. Kaavish, being first in the queue, will hit Pakistani markets on 8th of January ’10. Nida Arab on 15th of January and Mauj’s debut will come out on 22nd of January.

Dr Yezdani also mentioned that the videos are also ready and the long delays weren’t really their fault. He states

Just pray that nothing drastic happens. We have been trying to do this for over a year now but each time there are either explosions, some political issue like elections, long march and what not. This time we are determined. Their videos are ready and hope all goes well. Do buy their CDs and support music

He also mentioned few upcoming releases which will include Sohail Salamat, Call, Annie & Noman Javaid.

Good luck Fire! We all hope that the albums actually come out in January. I personally have been desperately waiting for the release of Mona’s video and Gunkali.
