‘Bol‘ a film by Shoaib Mansoor has been in news for a long time now mostly because Atif Aslam was acting in it and all of his fans were thinking as if he was doing the lead role in the film which he is not. Sources close to the film have confirmed that Atif Aslam is not doing the lead, but a supporting role in the film. BOL is not a typical hero heroine film. Humaima Abbasi and Manzar Sehbai are doing two of the major roles supported by Shafqat Cheema, Iman Ali, Atif Aslam, Mahira khan, Amir Kashmiri, Zeb Sajjad and many others. It is a very shocking news for Atif Aslam fans who were eager to watch him act in a lead role.
The reliable source also said, “no one is actually a lead in BOL they all have some specific role but no one is lead!!”
The film will not be releasing in early September but some time after EID.
But well whatever, we are still going to watch the movie because of Atif, won’t we?

The Pakistan America Peace Through Music Project A Musical Journey to Peace, Freedom and Understanding
(A Collaboration of The Sonic Peace Makers and SHINE HUMANITY)
Background:
Mention Pakistan today and what comes to the minds of most Americans is terrorism, poverty, and hopelessness. That’s all they see in the news. But Pakistan also has one of the world’s most diverse and rich cultures, equaled only by its spectacular natural beauty as home to part of Kashmir, the Khyber Pass and high mountain peaks like K2. Once upon a time in the not so distant past, Texan gun enthusiasts brought their prized antique revolvers to Peshawar’s gun smiths to make copies, actor Robert DeNiro posed for pictures with restaurant owners while vacationing in Chitral, and Mick Jagger tested his dance skills with Lahore’s most well-known Mujra dancers. And many of Pakistan’s greatest musicians and singers like Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan regularly collaborated with their counterparts in Europe and America such as Peter Gabriel and Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder. {Read More…}
At a press conference held in Karachi on Thursday evening, Ali Zafar said, “I directly appeal to the President and the Prime Minister to consider this issue and let the film be screened in Pakistan. If there is a security risk, by that standard we should stop going to mosques, or to schools or anything else. We cannot stop life. It is a 95-minute peace tape and a pro-Pakistan film, and this will generate business for our cinemas.” {Read More…}

Three Indian movies – Tere Bin Laden, Udaan and Lamhaa and two English movies – Inception and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice released on the same day i.e 16th July. But even after getting support from the leading faces of the Indian cinema (like Salman Khan, Karan Johar and Sonam Kapoor) and even after getting rave reviews, Tere Bin Laden starring Ali Zafar does an average opening at Box Office mostly because of Christopher Nolan (of Memento, Prestige & Batman Series fame)’s highly anticipated ‘Inception’ that stole the show, from East to West, from North to South. In fact, the film fetched a fantastic start from its first show onwards, eclipsing the Indian releases completely. Tere Bin Laden wasn’t expected to start with a bang at the International market, primarily because it stared a new face for them and also because Leonardo DiCaprio’s film ‘Inception’ was also releasing on the same day.
According to leading trade analyst of India, Tere Bin Laden started on a 15% to 20% to 25% note in the morning and noon shows, it picked up during the evening shows, since the word of mouth is extremely positive. {Read More…}

A Million Dollar FAKE!
Tere Bin Laden, starring, Prince of Pop, Ali Zafar has garnered generally positive reviews all over the world. The film earned $20,000 on Thursday night in Dubai, and it has become a smash hit in Dubai and in Mumbai, India. So Muslims and Pakistanis abroad love it, and did not find anything offensive in it. It’s a comedy film and it caters to the general psyche of the society. Banning the screening of the film in Pakistan on grounds that extremists could use it as a pretext to launch attacks, made every Pakistani sad and also excited to look for the illegal pirated version of it over the internet. Luckily I found the version within the next 24 hours of the release of the film and thankfully it has been shot quite nicely by the unknown director (pirate) sitting inside the cinema. Throughout the film I never felt that its an anti-Pakistan film. “It’s ironical that Indians are supporting a Pakistani (actor and character), while elements of our local Establishment are apathetic at best and regressive at worst.”, says a renowned musician ‘Shahvar Ali Khan’. A former member of parliament, said the ban was political posturing by the government. “They did not ban the movie because of security concerns. Nonsense,” Mr Yousaf Salahuddin said. “It is an anti-American film that exposes the Americans” and their double-standards. He said the Pakistani government did not want to offend the Americans. I don’t see a point why the movie should be banned here as its a pro-Pakistani film and being a Pakistani I thoroughly enjoyed the film and would highly recommend people to watch this rare gem in theaters. The movie is a very subtle, humorous remark on the war on terror. I think we needed a movie like that. So here goes the first Pakistani review. {Read More…}
