“Pakistan cricket needs overhauling”
Strings’ Bilal Maqsood speaks out on the current cricket scenario
Even if the Pakistani team is proven not guilty, which seems very unlikely at the moment, we all know that they all are a bunch of shady people who play only for themselves. Their punishment should be exemplary.
In spite of losing, God knows how many matches in a row, they get half a million each from the PCB for winning the Oval test match.
Question: Aren’t these guys paid money to play and win? Some of them get up to 800,000 rupees per test match. So why pay them extra for doing what they are supposed to do? Or….were they paid their cut for losing the first two? Hmmm? {Read More…}

Thirteen years after his death, those who worked with Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan still feel his loss deeply.
Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan was an icon, whose music resonates in qawwali evenings and in any discussion about the history of Pakistani music, and whose loss continues to be felt. His work continues to be featured in Western productions, such as the recently released film Eat Pray Love, whose soundtrack includes “The Long Road” by Khan. {Read More…}
This type of Rozay dar has the following characteristics
1 ) He makes sure to stuff himself with parathas and lasees (may be food suppliments) during sehry to prevent hunger from putting him in any kind of pain or misery the next day which can accidently lead him to test himself or provide an opportunity to relook at his desires and change for better.
2 ) Since now he has kept the Roza, he would go around asking everyone if they have kept it or not. Hoping someone would say “no” in embarrassment and he will rise to the occasion as a better Muslim in his own eyes and give a monstrous, demeaning look to the non-rozay dar.
3 ) He waits for aftary to feast on pakoras and other unhealthy fried food but more than that…… his cigarette. {Read More…}
I have landed in Pakistan, a country surrounded by serenity, seduced by a sincere sense of security. People of various sects, religion and race walking hand in hand, ignorant of imparity, in a place once hard to maintain sanity. They say there was a time when poor bled in despair while the burjuva fed on vanity and others looted on the name of charity.
I am surprised to notice the rulers here, who live like ordinary servants of the state somewhere. They say once so well had they mastered the art of corruption, that they themselves would decide the result of an election. {Read More…}
Pakistani celebrities reminisce about Nazia Hassan and their favourite songs by the iconic singer, who died 10 years ago today.
Ali Saleem:
Meeting Nazia: “I met her in 1998. I have listened to her songs; I grew up with her voice. As a person she was angelic.”
Favourite song: There are too many to name, but ‘Teri Yaad’ from Hotline is one of my favorites.”
As the legend goes, Ali Saleem has Nazia Hassan to thank for his trademark impersonation of Benazir Bhutto. The actor met the late prime minister at her house. {Read More…}
I wonder why the same self-professed devout people who are offended by me do not react as zealously when it comes to saving Pakistan from the terrorists who are chopping off heads, whipping girls and destroying schools and our culture. The Taliban and al Qaeda are doing far more damage to Islam and Pakistan than a 15-second clip on It’s my country too on YouTube.
Allama Iqbal spoke profoundly when he said: “Khirad ko ghulami sey azad kar, Jawanon ko peeron ka ustad kar.” (Free the mind from slavery, Make the youth the teachers of the old.)
The “controversial” sequence was taken out of context for the film It’s my country too. The family discussion at my aunt’s house in Colorado over dinner was part of a larger view on the Quran’s candid view on natural, physical relations between a husband and wife. “Only good men for good women” (Surah Noor) and “man and woman are a garment for each other” (Surah Baqarah). {Read More…}

The Pakistan America Peace Through Music Project A Musical Journey to Peace, Freedom and Understanding
(A Collaboration of The Sonic Peace Makers and SHINE HUMANITY)
Background:
Mention Pakistan today and what comes to the minds of most Americans is terrorism, poverty, and hopelessness. That’s all they see in the news. But Pakistan also has one of the world’s most diverse and rich cultures, equaled only by its spectacular natural beauty as home to part of Kashmir, the Khyber Pass and high mountain peaks like K2. Once upon a time in the not so distant past, Texan gun enthusiasts brought their prized antique revolvers to Peshawar’s gun smiths to make copies, actor Robert DeNiro posed for pictures with restaurant owners while vacationing in Chitral, and Mick Jagger tested his dance skills with Lahore’s most well-known Mujra dancers. And many of Pakistan’s greatest musicians and singers like Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan regularly collaborated with their counterparts in Europe and America such as Peter Gabriel and Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder. {Read More…}

Today Fox News published a report on Pakistan and refereed to it as Pornistan claiming that it is “No. 1 Nation in Sexy Web Searches”. Whatever keywords Fox News has mentioned are factual and not made-up. I don’t deny the fact that Pakistan ranks 1st on these keywords. I also don’t deny the fact that porn is popular in Pakistan. However, I deny that Pakistan is “No. 1 Nation in Sexy Web Searches” as claimed by Fox News.
Pakistan is top dog in searches per-person for “horse sex” since 2004, “donkey sex” since 2007, “rape pictures” between 2004 and 2009, “rape sex” since 2004, “child sex” between 2004 and 2007 and since 2009, “animal sex” since 2004 and “dog sex” since 2005, according to Google Trends and Google Insights, features of Google that generate data based on popular search terms.
It’s funny how the mentioned keywords are few of the least popular keywords when it comes to pornography. Below is the image of comparison of these keywords along with other major keywords related to pornography like “sex”, “porn”, “big tits” {Read More…}

After the Huge Success of Record Breaking Single “Chue Chue”. Artist Zaain is coming back to bubble gum our summers with another promising Single “Puch Mera Kiya Naam”. Zaain is done with the video of this song and is planning to release it in second week of July.
after reading your deluge of e-mails and tweets of disgust concerning Ali Azmat‘s recent appearance on Dawn TV,I saw the programme myself and I don’t know whether to laugh or cry!
I’m stunned at the audacity of ignorance, the dishonesty and the complete hypocrisy uttered by Ali Azmat on the recent Dawn TV show.
Pakistan does not need the “Danda” or a “Khilafat” any more than it needs corrupt politicans,suicide bomb blasts and drones that kill innocent civilians.
I wonder why Dawn TV doesnt choose to invite serious people who have contributed positively to Pakistan’s culture,education and society rather than trying to get cheap laughs out of confused and brainwashed celebrity addicts. {Read More…}
